[RESULTS UP] ASSIGNMENT 6 : FASHION & ART
So, you're now 5 remaining gorgeous girls, standing for the title of Fashionista. You've been embodied some of the most inspiring and used subjects in fashion those current times. It's now time to go further and visit fashion in its older way: fashion through paintings. When fashion was at its begining, paintings illustrated the first magazines covers and editorials. It is therefore logic, that we decided to assign to each of you a famous painting from the Italian Renaissance to the 20th Century. As we're still in a fashion competiton, what we're waiting for you is to analyzing the painting, find its main idea, subject, concept and history and use it to make a new, modern and fashion re-interpretation of this painting. You will have to find what does make this painting so different, unique and famous, and use it to find the inspiration. Be careful, we don't want an EXACT reproduction of the painting with fashion clothing, you'll have to use your brain to find a clever concept that calls back the painting and its meaning.
If you feel lost, I'm free to answer all your question about the theme to avoid any mistakes.
You'll receive a PM from me in which you'll have your assign painting. Keep it secret from the other contestants.

RESULTS
As long as it's been a while, I asked your coaches to judge this week!
This week, the first that I'm going to call is...
- Spoiler:
- Sofia!
Joan's evaluation
Theme 8/8
Model’s face 13/13
Style 8/9
Overall Picture 10/10 +CONCEPT 5
TOTAL 44
We gave you one of the most difficult painting from all the ones we choosed, I knew you’d do great, but I’d have never thought of THAT great ! You nailed it girl ! Your analysis is really good and you used it well to create a beautiful fashion picture. The whole atmosphere you created, is perfectly done. Having said that the gown you choosed may not be the best for this typical picture, it looks too simple for such a painting. Anyway, you really outdone yourself ! Congratulations !
Britney's evaluation
Theme 8/8
Model's face 13/13
Style 8.5/9
Overall Picture 10/10 + 5 CONCEPT
TOTAL 44.5
You had such a challenging painting assigned to you, yet you have done an amazing job at recreating a modern and fashion re-interpretation.
You clearly did your analysis which shines through in the finished piece. I think the gown fits in really well, as the demureness contrasts with the chaotic atmosphere which allows your Sim and the Fashion to remain the focal point of the assignment. You should be proud of yourself, great job!
Pedro's evaluation
Theme 8/8
Model’s Face 13/13
Style 9/9
Overall Picture 10/10 + CONCEPT 5/5
TOTAL 45
You nailed this assignment. Your picture reflects the artist vision of disaster, pain and so many things. Sofia’s eyes are deep to me, there’s intensity in it. I love the fact that she seems lost but you made it beautiful! There’s a lot of nudity and characters in the background but the viewer eyes directly goes to Sofia, she really takes the attention. Love your photo!
Next up is...
- Spoiler:
- Kiara Ezmeralda!
Joan's evaluation
Theme 8/8
Model’s face 12.5/13
Style 9/9
Overall Picture 8/10 + CONCEPT 5
TOTAL 42.5
You were the lucky one as long as this painting is your favourite ! I’m amazed by how you analyzed the painting and how you tried to re-work it in your picture. The styling you choosed is simply perfect, I love it ! Kiara finally looks more « mature », or less baby at least which is a good thing, you improoved on that point. The edits are well done and the colors effect on the background calls perfectly back the Munch painting. Having said that, I’m a bit disappointed by your picture quality, you should have worked better on it ! Well done !
Britney's evaluation
Theme 8/8
Model's face 12/13
Style 9/9
Overall Picture 8/10 + 5 CONCEPT
TOTAL 42
You were assigned probably one of my favourite paintings also. Your re-interpretation is amazing! I love how you kept the styling true to the original painting & you avoided using color on Kiara. Also the background colors look beautiful, I like that you incorporated the orange sky.
The photo quality isn't the best & around the edges of her headgear there are a few small white patches, but regardless it doesn't take much away from the picture overall and it is clear that you analysed the painting very well.
Pedro's evaluation
Theme 8/8
Model’s Face 13/13
Style 7/9
Overall Picture 9/10 + CONCEPT 4/5
TOTAL 41
This week, your photo was stunning. You understood the assignment and took the vibe of the painting to recreate it in a photo that had to contain modeling. The only thing that made you loose some points to me is the fact that she wears a black suit. However, the way you explain why makes us understand a bit more your choice. The makeup is a little too intense for me but your work is impressive!
And, the third one is...
- Spoiler:
- Jordan!
Joan's evaluation
Theme 8/8
Model’s face 9.5/13
Style 7.5//9
Overall Picture 9/10 + CONCEPT 4
TOTAL 38
Your painting wasn’t easy to take because you don’t have any human beings in it but you seriously make it work ! I love how you rework the sky in your own way with this modern skyscraper landscape ! Having said that, you may should have worked a bit more on the styling as for Sofia, the gown looks too simple and for the painting you had, it’s a bit too formal in my opinion… You did it again girl ! And you can seriously be the outsider , carry on!
Britney's evaluation
Theme 8/8
Model's face 10/13
Style 6.5/9
Overall Picture 8.5/10 + 4 CONCEPT
TOTAL 37
This is a really gorgeous picture. I really love how you have recreated the sensuousness starry sky and incorporated it into a modern city landscape, you really have done a great job there!
My only critique would be that I'm not astounded by the styling. I feel the gown you have chosen is slightly plain, it doesn't grab the attention of the person viewing the picture therefore the focus isn't really on the fashion. However I know that you must have found this painting harder to re-interpret as the original painting featured no humans so with that in mind I think you did a really great job!
Pedro's evaluation
Theme 8 /8
Model’s Face 11 /13
Style 8/9
Overall Picture 9/10 + CONCEPT 5/5
TOTAL 41
What impresses me the most is how you turned a painting that contains no character in your picture. The weakness of your photo is her face that is expressionless, her eyes looks sad but she have a little smile on her lips.
So, this week noone leaves as long as we had two drops. BUT, your scores here will be cumulated to your next ones, so it won't be useless! Congratulations girls!

Re: [RESULTS UP] ASSIGNMENT 6 : FASHION & ART
So, girls I have bad news! Camelia and Allison both have to drop from the competition. Camelia, because of computing problem and Allison because of Internet connection issue (she's on vacation). They both regret that decision but can't do anything about their problem. They wish to all of you the best of luck.
As long as you're now three remaining girls, the staff will have to make some choices for what's coming next in the competition, be sure to check back the Information section soon!

Re: [RESULTS UP] ASSIGNMENT 6 : FASHION & ART
- Spoiler:
I was assigned "The Scream" by Edvard Munch
And this is my result:
I have always been fascinated by this expressionist painting and I hope I could do it justice.
It expresses death, fear and at the same time somehow love. The painting itself is a Scream of Nature, so the the colours in it are screaming.
It expresses desolation and has a compulsive and disturbing impression on the viewer.
To me it also kinda expresses the enormety of pain - the lack of ability to express the intensity of the internal state.
I tried to show the relationship between the figure and the landscape as well as I could. Kiara is wearing a black suit just like the figure in the painting itself and also has a dark and disturbing impression on the viewer - I intentionally avoided any colour on her just like on the original figure. Whereas the strong red-orange colours of the sunset in the background are supposed to "scream" in endless pain just like in the original painting - and the colours are also shining and reflecting on her suit so it affects the person.
PS: I drew her whole outfit :3

Re: [RESULTS UP] ASSIGNMENT 6 : FASHION & ART
Wow Kiara, just WOW.
Well, here's my entry :
Well, here's my entry :
- Spoiler:
- Starry Night, Van Gogh.
For me, VanGogh's painting express curves, sensuousness, but also a kind of way to escape for the artist : Van Gogh was in a psychiatric hospital while he was painting this. He said "I need a starry night with cypresses, or, maybe, upon a wheat field", this starry night make him feel free, so I wanted a feel of freedom, escape and reassurance in my picture.
For me, the Starry Night is a painting full of curves, sesuousness, calm. So I chose a dress that highlight Jordan's curves. Her hair is free, as Van Gogh was free wis this painting. The green/blue make-up reminds the shades of the original painting.
The choice of the colors in my picture is not random, there are a few main colors in Van Gogh's Starry Night : blue, green, and yellow in the stars. You will notice that i respected those colors in my image, we see them a lot of times. Van Gogh said "Often, I feel like night is much more colored than day.", so the main colors are a bit exaggerated.
And If you ask "why a hill?", it's simply because I always felt like we were looking a town from a hill in Van Gogh's painting !
The original piece is painted with big finishes, i transcribed them on sky, around the starts, the moon, and green and blue moves.
I wanted to transcribe a maximum of details from the original painting in my picture such as the green and blue moves in the sky, the curch (here a flat) a bit curved, the colors, the tones, the ambiance, but mostly the sens of the painting, while modernizing the all.
I love Van Gogh's painting, hope i do his piece justice with picture !

Re: [RESULTS UP] ASSIGNMENT 6 : FASHION & ART
This is my entry:
- Spoiler:
Guernica, Pablo Picasso (1937)
I had to represent Guernica, by Pablo Picasso. I really love this painting, but I had some issues to work with it. This is a very abstract canvas, so it's hard to transcribe this feeling in a Sims shoot. Furthermore, there is no main caracter here, but Sofia has to be the center of the photo. So I decided to keep the main concept of the Picasso's painting, and worked with it!
This canvas expresses war, pain, hopeless... I tried to show these feelings through an apocalypstic seeting, with fire, injured bodies, animals like in the original "Guernica". The colors are pale, cause in the painting there is no real colors. I illustrated the weapons and the sword which appeared in the painting in a fashion way, with a claw ring and studded shoes. Sofia poses in a dramatic way, to highlight the fear concept. Finally, to show the graphic side of the painting, I build my shoot as a pyramid, with Sofia on the top. I really wanted a chaotic shoot, to show the horror of Guernica's bombing, as Picasso wanted to show it.
